Explore Denver

Most Denver hotels sit downtown near LoDo and Union Station, the walkable heart of the city. Whether you're in town for a Rockies or Nuggets game, a Red Rocks concert, or as a basecamp for the mountains, you'll find a compact core, a strong brewery scene, and a fast rail link to Denver International (DEN).

Union Station anchors downtown as both a transit hub and a destination: a restored grand hall of restaurants and bars with the A Line train running straight to the airport. From there, the 16th Street corridor, LoDo's historic brick blocks, and the ballpark are all walkable.

Denver is a launchpad as much as a destination. Red Rocks Amphitheatre sits 30 minutes west for concerts in a natural sandstone bowl, and in winter, the I-70 ski resorts (Breckenridge, Vail, Keystone) are within a two-hour drive, making a city-and-slopes trip easy to combine.

Neighborhoods in Denver

Climate & when to visit

Summer (Jun–Aug)
75–90°F, dry, with afternoon mountain storms. Peak season for concerts and patios.
Fall (Sep–Nov)
50–75°F. Golden aspens in the foothills and some of the year's best travel weather.
Winter (Dec–Feb)
25–45°F. Sunny but cold, and the gateway season for the I-70 ski resorts west of the city.
Spring (Mar–May)
45–70°F. Variable weather with late snow possible, and a shoulder-season sweet spot for rates.

Getting around

  • Denver International (DEN) connects to Union Station downtown on the A Line train in about 40 minutes.
  • Downtown, LoDo, and RiNo are walkable; the free 16th Street shuttle links the core.
  • For Red Rocks or the I-70 ski resorts, rent a car or book a shuttle; mountain trips are best by road.
  • Denver sits at 5,280 feet, so hydrate and take it easy the first day before any high-altitude day trips.
